For Sale from MtnTop Morgans

The handling of our foals and horses here at MtnTop Morgans is one we take very seriously. The care and training of our foals starts at the moment of their birth. Lessons learned at this age can last a lifetime. Match that training with the genetic predisposition of a Morgan and the end result is an outstanding adult horse that not only loves people but is a willing partner.

All our foals are handled daily and learn to stand tied, lead, be clip, vacuumed, have their feet trimmed, etc. all in a very relaxed frame of mind. If a horse comes here as an untrained horse they will get all the required handling to become a respectful quiet horse before being started under saddle. This is important for the horse/human relationship.

The following links are just a few example of videos of how our foals are handled and what they are taught here at MtnTop Morgans. We will add to this collection as we show our horses in training and finished.

(S Bar B Pierre Noire X Sandrock Bridget)
2006 buckskin mare

Well I have been putting this off long enough. I promised my husband when I traded the stallion Gone Gold for Bar Non Desert Rose aka Desi it was with the intention of offering her For Sale. But to be honest this girl is so much fun to train and she just loves to learn that I have - well just been putting it off. I guess I better get her posted before I really decide to keep her. Of course if she stays I won't be heartbroken. She just really doesn't fit into my breeding program and all my horses have to pull double duty of riding and motherhood.

Bar Non Desert Rose (S Bar B Pierre Noire X Sandrock Bridget) aka Desi is a beautiful half Lippitt buckskin Morgan mare. Pedigree

Desi was trained to drive both double and single before I got her. She has driven to town with the previous owner which is about a 7 mile round trip. I have worked on all her ground manners and Desi is just a love. She stands tied, vacuums, clips, wears a blanket is just great for her feet to be trimmed. She also wore shoes with her previous owner as well. She is well started under saddle and is one of the nicest horses I have trained in a long time. This girl loves to learn and hasn't given me a hard time about anything. She soaks up all the training like a sponge.

Desi's current saddle training is going FANTASTIC. She carries her head at the perfect level. Drops nicely into the bit. She is using her shoulders nicely through the walk and the trot. She is just incredible at the trot. She will smoothly transition from a slow jog into a big full trot and very softly transition back down into a jog. No fuss no muss. I have started loping her (about 10 lopes to date) and the balance this young lady has is great. She doesn't rush and has quickly picked up the cue to move into the lope. She will transition down to a jog and a walk after loping with a very calm attitude.

This video is really fun. Loads of action going on here and I promise you won't be bored watching it :-) Desi is really learning how to control her body and you will notice while not perfect how she will move her front end and haunches and response to leg movements. Check out the umbrella and the ball going between her legs. Did you also notice when I moved the lariat while trotting by and not a step missed by this girl.

Here is the break down: Riding western she is very consistent in the trot and moves nicely into the lope. My indoor is small (36 x 50) and I am amazed at the balance she has to be able to lope very nicely (not that she doesn't need work but nicely) in this small indoor. Here is the western link:

Hunt seat - First WOW this just maybe her calling this or dressage IMO. I have NEVER even had a hunt saddle or this bit on her before so we tossed it up there and started taping not giving her much chance to adjust. It did take her a few minutes to adjust to the bit (this kimberwick has a port in it) and a nose band. Which you can tell she is trying very hard to find the comfortable spot for herself while still trying to listen to me. Towards the end of the video I think she found her sweet spot with the bit.

Here are a couple of links to older YouTube videos of her. One was done the beginning of December 2009 and the other more recently (Jan 2010):

Desi ground manners

Desi has been out on her first trail ride and was just incredible:

February 2010 Desi on the trail

She really seemed to love being outside and down the trail. She was very relaxed and never flinched a bit when seeing dead tires and a smoldering bonfire, which she walked right by. She even took the lead for a short bit and loved it.

Desi is being offered for sale at $5,000.00. This includes me continuing her training until March 30, 2010, UTD shoots and transfer of her AMHA papers. This mares price will be much higher at the end of March with all the training I know she will quickly take to. Payments plans available. Desi can also be bred to one of my stallions standing at MtnTop Morgans with a discount stud fee if anyone is interested.

NEW!  Video of Libby doing ground work, December 2009

"Libby" has it all in the gene pool-  on her dam's side she is a Treble's Willy Wild granddaughter, along with Noble Command, and on her sire's side she is double Trophy in 5 and 6 generations. Throw in her Whippoorwill Duke lines and she is as lovely and smart as her lines tell you she should be.

Libby is a pocket pest and just loves human company. She will leave the herd to come running to you when she sees you. If given the chance she would probably climb in your lap. She is VERY smart and has just loved to learn, picking things up not only quickly but she retains the information. She will stand all day to be brushed and loved on. She has a super long THICK mane and tail . She has a super nice deep hip and has a chest that is to die for. She is going through a good growth spell right now since she turns two the beginning of February 2010.

She has really conquered her ground training- clips, vacuums, blankets, and lets you handle her feet like a pro. She will move off the forehand and hip from both sides on the ground. Throw the surcingle on her and she is no problem and is just really learning to find her frame. She is doing wonderfully with her voice commands of walk, trot and whoa along with the down transition from trot to walk, all on the lunge line. She is very brave and forward thinking nothing of tarps and bags. Even when we turn on our huge Pro Buddy furnace on she takes it all in stride (see the video).

We have 2 videos of Libby- one of her in November 2009 running in the pasture (mostly coming to me as that is what she loves to do) and then one of me working her just the other day. We are offering her at an incredible New Year's special right now. Libby is priced at $2500 and this will include additional training until March 30th, 2010. Act now as her price will most certainly go up come spring. Buy her now and she will be nicely started for you.
